Holistic approach for Pain Management

Pain is an incredibly complex condition, with any number of causes, symptoms and comorbidities. Living with pain is a common reality for the majority of sufferers. Fibromyalgia, or fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a chronic condition which causes a wide range of symptoms, including musculoskeletal pain, extreme levels of fatigue, problems with cognition and poor sleep quality.

I for one know about living with Fibromyalgia having suffered with it for 12 years now.

There is nothing I haven't tried over the years, because the cause of this condition is unknown and since there is no cure for fibromyalgia, traditional treatment options are extremely limited. Most GPs will prescribe painkillers, antidepressants or simple exercise to alleviate symptoms. This may work for some people, but others are looking for an alterative or something to manage pain alongside medications.

Having trained in Holistic therapies many years ago over the last year having time off due to Covid 19, I have been able to have time to create a package to help people from an holistic approach. This includes well being and mood boosting supplements created by ourselves as well as treatment plans and diet advice. Treatments include Reflexology of the hands, face, feet and acupressure on trigger points to help ease pain.

Reflexology

Dating back to Ancient Egypt, reflexology is the practice of treating reflex points and areas in the feet and hands that relate to corresponding parts of the body. Each organ and structure within the body is linked to the feet by energy channels or meridians. When our physical or emotional health is weakened or compromised by illness or stress, these channels become blocked or congested. Reflexology can be used very effectively to facilitate the free flow of energy and thus restore the body to its more natural state of health and well being.

We have created bespoke programs for clients to help reduce ailments and tackle certain health condition's from an holistic approach. We are all unique and so should your treatment plan.

During your consultation we will discuss your expectations, reasons for treatment, medications and create your very own plan.

If its tackling Fibromyalgia for example we will cover diet, lifestyle, exercise, relaxation and your treatments may include reflexology of the hands, feet or face, acupressure and show you techniques to do at home in-between sessions. We also offer advice on health and well being supplement's if we feel they may help ease ailments such as bloating, sleep and pain.

What is Reflexology and Acupressure ??

By applying gentle pressure and using specific techniques and movements, reflexology  and certain forms of acupressure can both identify and support the areas of the body.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and stages of life and can bring relief to a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions as well as working more preventatively in helping the body to maintain overall health and well-being. Specific conditions which are known to benefit from reflexology include:

  • Allergies

  • Anxiety and Stress related issues

  • Asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and other respiratory problems

  • Back pain and sciatica

  • Chronic Fatigue and general exhaustion

  • Digestive disorders including irritable bowel, colitis, gastritis and constipation

  • Headaches

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Immune disorders

  • Infertility

  • Menopausal symptoms

  • Menstrual irregularities including pain levels and PMT

  • Migraine

  • Pregnancy and post partum symptoms

  • Tonsillitis

  • Urinary problems

  • Vertigo

Acupressure

If you’re in need of a little relief but don't fancy being used as a human pin-cushion, acupressure is the answer. Working along the same lines as acupuncture only without the scary needles, it’s sure to relieve any stress as well as giving your chi (energy) a much-needed kick up the backside and we can combine this with Reflexology.

We will start by applying deep but gentle pressure to your acupoints, found along your body’s energy lines. Using finger pressure, the occasional thumb and knuckle movement or even a smooth, blunt object, your therapist will stimulate each energy point to release any blockages that have gathered there. Once these areas have been prodded and poked away, you'll be left feeling chirpier, stress-free and more energetic. Yes please!
